The New Mexico Professional Fire Fighters Association is proud to announce the results of the MDA Awards for 2008. Many locals participated and we almost obtained 100K in donations this year in New Mexico. Per the IAFF statistics, averaging money raised by the 13 IAFF Locals who participated this year, the average amount raised per fire fighter in New Mexico was $94. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is working with the IAFF and the NMPFFA to raise the Fill The Boot amount to $100 per member next year!

The awards for this year are as follows:

Most Money Raised- Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters Local 244, City Chapter raising $53,108.

Most Improved Local- Los Alamos Fire Fighters Local 3279, $5000.

Rookie of the Year-Las Cruces Fire Fighters Local 2362, $9745.

MDA Coordinator of the Year South Region- Robert Sanchez, Carlsbad Local 1687               North Region- Santa Fe Local 2059  Central Region-Ahren Griego Albuquerque City Chapter Local 244

Honorable Mention- Albuqueruqe Area Fire Fighters Local 244, Bernalillo County Chapter, back in action raising $21,863.

MDA Camp Councillor of the Year- Ray Garcia, Las Cruces Local 2362
